Prices and project sizes for electronic price tags explained
Individual projects
Individual projects are projects with special requirements that do not typically fall into the price tag category. The minimum cost for such projects is 2,000 EUR and is usually not higher than 10,000 EUR.
We recommend a minimum quantity of 200 electronic price tags, as otherwise the costs for the infrastructure are higher than the costs of the electronic price tags themselves.
Industrial projects are very different, just as the industry is unique in many parts. Certain structures such as Kanban are more common, as is island production.
Storage systems can be very different. A fully automated warehouse does not need electronic price tags because the information on the storage locations never changes.
A warehouse that relies on employees, like most chaotic storage systems, has a lot of help with changing information with electronic price tags.
Industrial projects are usually more complex than retail projects, so industrial customers incur more costs for customizing the software solution and support than for the hardware.
Gastronomy, theatre and conference rooms
The gastronomy is very multifaceted, hotels have similar requirements as a restaurant business due to their restaurants. However, door signage with room occupancy and conference room signage can have completely different requirements in other hotel areas.
Restaurants can dynamically display daily maps instead of printing new maps every day. A typo causes confusion among paying customers. The now electronic cards can be placed centrally on the table, visible to everyone.
Events and catering can score points with your customers with dynamic name tags. A buffet in Stuttgart can be labeled from Berlin. Several buffets worldwide can be labeled and controlled from one central location.
Theatres and opera houses can dynamically number chairs by permanently attaching electronic price tags. If a system is maintained with this information, with software, this information can be displayed on the electronic price tags.
Conference room signage falls into the category of electronic price tags. If you have one or two conference rooms, the investment is not worthwhile, but if you have 30 or 40 conference rooms, you can easily and centrally adjust the room occupancy.
At trade fairs you can display individual information and universities can use the electronic price tags to carry out group projects on the subject of digitisation.
The scenarios listed here probably represent only a fraction of the possibilities.

S Project
This size includes pharmacies, and small retailers or individual product areas.
The cost of electronic price tags varies greatly for these customers, which is why we can only give a price indication of 10,000 to 20,000 EUR.
Pharmacies are obliged by law to provide information such as the basic price. Most customers equip the complete free choice with electronic price tags.
Due to the costs incurred in the infrastructure, it is also worthwhile to equip the viewing option, since usually no more infrastructure is needed. Around half of our pharmacy customers also use our price tags in their choice of view.
Small retailers are kiosks, fruit merchants, tobacconists and other retail outlets with a special assortment of goods where a large variety is not necessary.
Equipping individual product areas has proven in the past to be the best option for retailers who want to test the technology first.
Our unique modular system makes it possible first to equip individual areas and then to equip other areas or the entire sales floor with electronic price tags.
M Project
Retailers 2000 articles and more, as well as center pharmacies belong to this size. Costs for such a project are between 20,000 and 60,000 EUR. Again, more precise details are difficult to give.
There are different quantities of price tags, different sizes and technologies. The costs of these projects are largely dictated by the number and form of electronic price tags.
The larger the project, the smaller the share of infrastructure costs.
Center pharmacies receive through their central location, a lot of walk-in customers, partly many tourists. Here, current prices and attractive offers are very important, as it is important to convince new customers quickly.
Tourists who do not speak German are happy if they can see the prices right away and do not have to ask questions about the price.
M projects also include building material dealers, here it was important to our customers that their specialist personnel do not concern themselves with price changes.
Nowadays it is more and more difficult to find good professionals, so their time is very precious.
To create a modern working environment in order to be attractive as an employer for potential applicants is becoming more and more important nowadays and is unfortunately still very underestimated.
In the building materials trade, a quick reaction to the constantly changing purchase prices of raw materials is of vital importance. Electronic price tags help you with both examples.
In addition, a quicker reaction to changes in purchase prices is very important, as raw material prices are never stable. Furthermore, electronic price labels guarantee an extremely fast reaction to market events and the competition.
L Project
These include large stores with large sales areas. Supermarkets, do-it-yourself stores and large building material dealers are usually our customers. The costs for electronic price tags for such large projects are between 60,000 and 160,000 EUR.
The same advantages of electronic price tags from the previous categories also play a major role here. However, the main feature of these projects is the number of items. For example, to price 10,000 items correctly without errors and as quickly as possible is simply impossible.
A modern environment for employees is extremely important in order to attract missing skilled workers.
An environment with digital price labelling reflects digitisation and is especially crucial for young skilled workers.
Retail chains
These projects were not mentioned in the overview above, as the number of stores and articles of the individual retail chains varies extremely. Even a price indication would always be wrong.
For retail chains we work closely with our partner Hanshow. With Auchan in France and Ahold Delhaize in the Netherlands, our partner has proven that large-scale projects are carried out wonderfully and quickly.
What does an offer on electronic price tags include?
The hardware components include the electronic price tags, the access points for radio communication and an ESL box with the software. If Wlan routers are not available, we provide them. Barcode scanners for linking the articles with the price tags are also included.
The software part contains the management software for the electronic price tags, of course as usual with an interface for configurations. To communicate with the access point a special driver is required. Finally there are apps for special use cases.
Services such as programming of the interface, pre-configuration, commissioning, training and, if required, the attachment of price tags are offered.
Services include telephone support, a support ticket system, FAQs, battery replacement and advice on all issues relating to electronic price tags.
So what are the cost drivers?
For individual projects, it is clearly the infrastructure, i.e. access point, the ESL box with the software, Wlan router, configuration and programming. The electronic price tags play a rather small role here.
S to L projects, on the other hand, tend to have a small infrastructure share, with electronic price tags being the largest cost item.
